5 Best European Peer-To-Peer Lending Platforms of 2022

We created an overview so you can make the best and safest investment possible. We might get a fee from referring when someone clicks through our website to one of the platforms we compare. In any case, this does not affect our recommendations or comparisons.

While peer-to-peer lending is becoming more popular, we are often asked which platform is the best, the safest or has the highest returns.

First of all, P2P investing is particularly interesting for multiple reasons:

  1. The returns are great: average annual returns of 12% are no exception;
  2. Investing can be completely automatic due to the auto investment feature, which saves you a lot of time;
  3. You can diversify rather easily using multiple P2P platforms, in order to manage your exposure to risk.
  4. You can already start investing with as little as 10 EUR.

To choose a winner we did extensive, independent research on a large number of peer-to-peer platforms. We looked primarily at yearly returns, safety, ease of use, fees and minimum investment requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you need a lot of money to invest in P2P?

No, you can start with as little as 10 EUR. Platforms with this threshold are, amongst others: Mintos, Lendermarket, VIAINVESTPeerBerry and Robocash.

What are the fees when starting to invest?

There are no fees when you open up an account and start with P2P investing. On occasion there might be banking fees when depositing or withdrawing money from your account.

Can you cash out on P2P investing?

Usually you can only cash out when a secondary market is available, which is currently the case with Mintos and EstateGuru. Other platforms don’t have this option yet. The best thing to do here is to invest in short-term projects and let the loan mature in order to get your money back quickly.

How quickly can I start investing?

After you’ve created an account, you’ll need to make a deposit to the P2P platform, which can take anywhere from the same day to a week depending on the available deposit options and where you are located.
Once you’ve completed this process you can start investing, but do so wisely and note that there are no short cuts in getting rich.

How can I diversify with little money?

You can start with small amounts of money. There are a couple of options:

  • You can either invest in multiple P2P platforms to diversify your money (usually at a threshold of 10 EUR);
  • Alternatively, you can diversify by choosing multiple loan originators on the same marketplace;
  • Or you can combine both of these strategies.
